Background
Matthew David is a patent litigator and advisor whose practice spans complex patent disputes, trade secret matters and portfolio strategy. He brings deep technical fluency and business acumen to clients working on technologies ranging from AI, software, wireless systems and emerging digital platforms to medical devices, automotive and consumer electronics.
Before joining Brownstein, Matthew was a senior associate at a large national firm, where he handled patent litigation and trade secret matters, including Hatch Waxman disputes. Matthew also has a substantial technical and engineering background. He spent more than a decade at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as an examiner and worked in engineering roles at Intel and Lutron, developing software and validation methodologies for cutting edge microprocessor and lighting control technologies. Along with his technical work, Matthew founded and operated several small businesses, including an automotive manufacturing venture and a metal finishing company.
